Larry: When Emma’s hair is wet, I apply a volumising serum and blow her out with that product. Then I set her using a thermal curling spray with curling irons, which creates tons of volume and gorgeous waves. I finish Emma off with a light spray that locks in her look for the two hour show.

INSIDE SCOOP “I call Gabrielle Union’s look a smooth upsweep,” said hairstylist Larry Sims, who created it. “After her hair was blown-out, I brushed it to the crown of her head and gathered it with a hook elastic for extra tightness and security.” He then flat-ironed the length of the ponytail, wrapped a piece of hair around the base, and finished with hair polisher for luminous shine.

The über-polished style of former Spice Girl Beckham has swept the nation (almost 70 percent of salons surveyed gave her their vote), while BFF Holmes is a close second. “Victoria’s angled bob is so versatile,” says her hairstylist, Larry Sims. “Even if your hair’s curly, it’s easy to straighten such a short length.”

Sims originally began his career in Chicago as a professional dancer and choreographer for such artists as Missy Elliot and Sean Combs—but hair was his true passion. Upon moving to Los Angeles, he landed a job at the Ken Paves Salon and soon started amassing his own list of celebrity clients, including Eve, Queen Latifah, Christina Milian, and Victoria and David Beckham. Working with the Beckhams led Sims to travel the world for the Spice Girls reunion tour, where he styled both Victoria Beckham and Emma Bunton’s hair.
